MYLER'S THE MAN AGAIN FOR REDS

07 May 2008

1

SALFORD'S teenage scrum half Richard Myler is celebrating again after being named The Co-operative National League One Player of the Month for April.

The 17-year-old sensation edged out Halifax pair Sean Penkywicz and Graham Holroyd for the award, decided by League Weekly and a panel of Co-operative National League coaches.

Myler's fine form for the Reds, which included a thrilling hat trick in the recent 36-10 defeat of Whitehaven, has helped him scoop his second consecutive Player of the Month Award.

Salford coach Shaun McRae is delighted for his up-and-coming star, though he has warned he must keep a level head.

"I think that it's great that he's won the award again," McRae told League Weekly. "I certainly wouldn't argue against it.

"But if he gets big headed and loses concentration then he goes from being player of the month two months in a row to being out of the team."

Myler is one of three Salford players in The Co-operative National League One Team of the Month for April, alongside prop Phillip Leuluai and loose forward Jordan Turner.

Halifax also have three players included, with young centre James Haley joining Holroyd and Penkywicz in the side.
