Salford City Reds will open their Super League account at the new Salford City Stadium with a fun-filled family event led by X-Factor starlet Amelia Lily on Saturday 4th February.
In addition to the main event, which sees the Reds take on the Castleford Tigers, the Stadium will also play host to an on-site funfair (as provided by North West Funfairs) which will include rides, stalls and facepainters – to provide a carnival pre-match atmosphere from 2pm.
The Real Radio Fan Zone will also make its debut at the event from 2pm, with Real XS presenters entertaining the crowds with live entertainment, dancers and giveaways on the outdoor stage in front of the West Stand. Even before you enter the stadium, the wide choice of food and drinks, plus the bar for adults will ensure a pre-match atmosphere like never before.
From 4pm the party will move inside with a host of pre-match activity including a chance to kick for gold and win £1000 courtesy of Club La Santa holidays (www.clublasanta.co.uk), speeches from Reds' legends and dignitaries, a pre-match performance from the world famous Red Hot Flames and the final appearance by the Reds’ Willows mascot Ignito.
X Factor finalist Amelia Lily, will be on hand to maintain the atmosphere with an exclusive set at half-time, where she will perform some of the songs that won her the support of so many X-Factor viewers and secured her place in the 2011 final.
Tina Wilkinson-Bell, Director at Salford City Reds comments: “The first Super League game of the season is always a special affair, but this year it is even more exciting than ever as it will be the first at our new Stadium. To commemorate this momentous occasion we are putting on a festival of fun for the entire family to enjoy. From face-painting and fair rides to dancers and giveaways it promises to be an exciting day, and we are delighted that X-Factor comeback kid Amelia Lily will also be wowing us with her vocals. I would encourage everyone to get down to the Stadium early so you can really enjoy a day to remember off and, hopefully, on the pitch.”
Pam Martin, Salford City Stadium manager said:
