Safer, Stronger Communities

This project is backed by Salford Council and is specifically designed to improve sporting service provision in the Little Hulton & Eccles/Winton areas of the city of Salford. The Safer Stronger Communities Fund has a series of core aims & objectives relating to providing opportunities for volunteers, green environments & crime reduction. This highly successful scheme has allowed SCR to achieve this aims & objectives using the medium of sport, specifically rugby league.

This has been achieved through liaison with various local community groups & housing associations as well as by the bringing together of other local stakeholders such as local amateur clubs, police & fire service. Activities within the scheme have been as wide ranging as coaching sessions, coaching courses, after school clubs, player mentoring visits and enterprise days amongst many others.

The project has been hugely successful in engaging local youngsters with the Foundation having contact with 1000s of individuals in the last 3 years. The Reds Foundation aims to continue on with the good work for the foreseeable future, delivering its many projects within the local community. Specifically we will be delivering our Streetlight scheme with a view to providing youngsters with an alternative to becoming bored of an evening & weekend.

Reds deliver rugby sessions at Ivy St Park
